Aloha, Mele The kids and I returned from our trip to London and France!
I wanted to thank you for your help with the trains & itinerary.. Everything
work out great! The train rides were smooth and relaxing. A great place to
rest and meet others.
London and Paris were great, with the Abbey, Eiffel Tower, Versailles, etc.
However, I think that we enjoyed the smaller towns most.
Beaune is a great little town, and the
hotel
was perfect. We went biking vinyards! Chamonix was also an incredible
place. A nice town with lots of great hiking. The gondola ride across the
glacier was a once in a lifetime experience. Our
hotel in
Chamonix turned out to be very nice with a great breakfast (best part
- kids were free).
Cheers, Rick of Clinton, Iowa 1 August 06
No one gave me more detailed information and idea than you did from sights
to safety! We are so lucky to find your web site and work out our
trip planning with you. We are looking forward a wonderful trip. Jingyong

Aahhh, Thank you for letting me know this. I do wish you a great trip
and hope you got your under the waist band money
belts. Keep every thing of value in it and then if someone tries to
steal a wallet or purse, you will just have another exciting story to tell!

(Received Day of tube & bus bombings in London 7 July 05)
the Eurostar tickets arrived today and all is well - thank you
so much for the tips and the help you gave to us while securing our seats.
Of course our families are just beside themselves with all that happened
in London today and my 24 year old told me I was not allowed to go to
London. Yeah, right! I feel that we will be safer now
than we would have been before - so London, England here we come and
Paris, France - BRACE YOURSELF!!
again, I thank you so much for your care and kindness during this process.
All the best to you - and if you don't mind, I will drop you a note when
we return to tell you about our adventure. >> Barbara

I think you are right. Just expect high security in the most unusual places.
Europeans have been pretty security minded for many more years than we have.
I remember my purse being checked after I walked into a department store
in Paris back in 88.
I would love to hear from you when you get back. Please do drop a note.

Hello, I'm finding your site useful. However, at the end of your message
I get the impression that TERCMele is providing a service to US
citizens. Is this true as I am from the UK? John
of Great Britain 11 June 04
Our primary business is for North Americans because rail
passes can only be purchased by "non residents" of a country prior to their
arrival in Europe. Tickets can be purchased by anyone, but most travelers
in Europe and the UK can get these easily from their local train stations
or travel agency.
We do sell "non Brit" rail passes to travelers in the
UK, but shipping runs about $30-35 usd to ship them by UPS and takes at least
4 business days. I think our biggest selling passes to UK clients are the
Eastern Europe and
Italian passes. Switzerland is one
of the few countries which sells their consecutive day passes to non Swiss
residents in their country when you arrive. The more popular
Swiss Flexi pass has to be purchased ahead
of time.
I do outside sales for RailEurope, and they have a web
site for UK residence you might want to check out.
http://www.raileurope.co.uk/
RailEurope also has an office in London at 178
Piccadilly, London W1 telephone: 08705 848 848
Let us know if we can be of further assistance. My guess
is that you will need to get your rail products locally. Mele
I received my Britrail pass in the mail yesterday morning. Thank you so much!
I appreciate your help and have gotten lots of helpful advice off of your
website.
We are traveling into London our first day and spending the night there before
going to Manchester the following day. We are trying to decide whether
or not to book our hostel in advance. Any suggestions?? Also, we'll be
in London over Easter break - do you think we need to book our hostels before
we go? Thanks again, Michelle of Meridian, ID 10 April

Hi Mele!
Just wanted to send you a quick note to say that my husband and I had
such a wonderful time in Europe! I picked up a few maps from Paris for
you to pass on to other clients ---just as you did for us! I have so
many good traveling tales for you!
Also, I wanted to thank you again for the "n"-th time......you've been so
helpful! We couldn't have planned our European vacation without all of your
generous help and patience! Your train skedules were so helpful, as well
as all the other information you provided! I'm so glad I met you in
your class! Looking forward to hearing back from
you! Mahalo! Rona Hawaii 3 October 2001
Thanks for the tip; I will print out the packing
light page. Thanks for all your help in planning our Europe trip. Any
time you need a referral I would be glad to oblige. David Toof MD

My Dear Ms. Mele Fujiwara,
My God !!! You sound like an angel in disguise !!!! Thank you ever
so much for these tips and for agreeing to guide me further. I still cannot
believe I might be able to talk to and get the help of a real expert like
you.
I ONLY think of, talk about and dream about my Europe trip. Even in my sleep
- there's just one thought - EUROPE !!! I am also doing some reading
up (on the internet), making cost comparisons, etc, along with figuring out
what all I'd like to cover in Europe. After I do the preliminary work you
suggested, I'll e-mail you the details and then you can advise me where I
could make changes. I thank you once again for your support. I am almost
feeling re-energised and excited all over again. I hope we can make this
happen. Warmest regards, Monisha 21 June 2001
Dear Mele,
Remember us?? I took your class three years ago
before traveling to Italy. We are now living in Northern Calif.
We just returned from a week in Paris. Used Rick's Paris Book exclusively.
Remembered your suggestion to buy the Paris Museum Pass .... A MARVELOUS
suggestion... It was unbelievable, the way we walked past blocks of lines
of people and went right in the entrance of many places but especially the
Louvre and The D'Orsay. Please note our new email address. Merci Beaucoup
Madame. Mary Drew and Dick Rolston CA. 27 June 2001
Dear Mele,
Thank you for your help with regards to our trip to Italy and Austria. We
had a great time and there were no problems. Sincerely,

both fran and I learmed a lot from the meeting. Will await your train
schedules. Thanks once again. We will try to get the hotel you recommended

Hi Mele,
It's said that all good things come to an end. A vacation without an end
is no longer a vacation. I had a wonderful time in Paris. Didn't get
to do all that I had hoped, but there were unexpected and serendipitous events
that made up for it. Would like to share them with you when you return from
your trip abroad. In the meantime, I have some Metro tickets that I didn't
use and I'll put them in the mail for you. Elaine Shinigawa

Your web site is looking great. boy, you've done lots on it! I really
like the way you've added all of the links. Very useful and too cool! Thanks
for letting me know about my stuff. (Road Reports
+ ATM tips) Again, Mele, I would
like to thank you for all of your help in planning our trip. Your pack lite
class was a godsend - wish I 'd taken even less than I did. I shudder to
think how much unnecessary stuff I'd have dragged along with out the benefit
of your guidance in this department.
Your tips on places to go, see, do, eat at and stay at were most helpful
also. It is absolutely so that without your generous guidance, assistance
and support our trip would not have been the same. You are truly the "goddess
of cost effective, fun European Travel."
