Introduction to Britain: Bath and London
Here is a daily schedule to help you plan for each day. It lists your
daily sightseeing plan, where you'll sleep each night, the amount of
free time you'll likely have, and an estimation of time needed to accomplish
the basic sightseeing plan. Please note that the exact schedule for
each tour will vary slightly. Nights three and four will be left free for
those who want to reserve theatre tickets.
Day 1: Arrive in Bath The elegant Georgian city of Bath is
just a 90-minute train ride from London or Heathrow. Meet your tour at 2:00
p.m. at our hotel for a "Welcome to Britain" get-together. After introductions,
we'll have a "spot of tea" before taking an orientation walk of the
city. Sleep in Bath (3 nights).
Day 2: All Day in Bath Today we'll start with a walking tour
of this marvelous city. After lunch we will tour the remarkably
well-preserved Roman Baths then take a look through the Costume Museum.
You'll be on your own to savor this elegant city till we meet for Dinner.
Day 3: Visit to Glastonbury and Wells We'll meet mini van tour
for a day trip into quaint English country side. We will make stops
at Stone Henge then head for the less-touristy, extensive stone circle
at Avebury. Before heading home we will stroll a Cotswold village.
After dinner, we will take an entertaining Bizzar walk of Bath.
Day 4: To London via Blenheim Palace This morning we'll pack
our bags and head to Oxford for lunch. After lunch we'll tour Blenheim
Palace, a gilded mini-Versailles and birthplace of Winston Churchill. In
the late afternoon we'll continue to our London Bed and Breakfast. Sleep in
London (4 nights).
Day 5: London Orientation & Market Day Today we will
dive into London sightseeing, beginning with a Double Decker historic tour
of the city! After lunch, we will stop off at the Portobello Market, one
of the best in London. After wards we will catch a bus to the British Museum.
Day 6: Tower of London & Royal Jewels We will start our
day at the Tower of London, the city's historic "tower of power." We'll join
a Yeoman Warder Beefeater for an entertaining tour and a peek at the impressive
Crown Jewels. Then you will have free time for Covent Garden,
shopping, or other sightseeing. This is another good night for the theater.
Day 7: St. Paul's, Speakers' Corner, Greenwich Today you
can sleep in, or join us for the bells of St. Paul's and lively Speakers'
Corner at Hyde Park. Just before noon we'll have a picnic
cruise down the River Thames to historic Greenwich for a lovely day on your
own. Explore the National Maritime Museum, Old Royal Observatory, or Cutty
Sark clipper ship. Stay all afternoon if you like, or take the Tube back
to London. Tonight we'll meet for our "last supper" and raise a toast to
London. Cheers!
Day 8: Tour over Following breakfast, we'll say our final
farewells and head for home or further adventures in Britain or on
the Continent. Thanks for exploring Bath & London with us!
